Digital
Pen for BlackBerry
PaperIQ introduces digital
writing for BlackBerry with their new DP-201 Digital Pen. This device frees
you from the keyboard and allows you to easily create digital notes, emails,
contacts or tasks on your BlackBerry and save a digital copy on a secure web
site that you can access from any PC. Your handwriting is converted to digital
text that you can email or fax directly from your BlackBerry.
The
PaperIQ BlackBerry Professional Edition Kit includes everything you need
to get started:
o
DP-201 digital pen
o
Travel/charging stand & USB cable
o
3 Pen refills
o
A5 Oxford Easybook (M3) with 128
pages
o
12 month subscription to
PaperIQ’s handwriting recognition, web based digital archive and fax
transmission service
How it works
The secret lies in the use
of specially designed paper with micro-printing that enables the pen to
sense its exact position on the paper. As you write or draw on the paper,
the digital pen records the movements in relation to the paper. When you tap
on a special sticker in the notebook, the pen sends the digital information
to the Digital Pen application on the BlackBerry using Bluetooth technology.
The BlackBerry then sends the information to PaperIQ’s server for processing
and storage
using
BlackBerry’s proven secure transmission protocol. With the digital pen,
there is no need to scan the images you create, as an exact replica of the
page you created is stored on PaperIQ’s secure website as a PDF image, and
the handwriting is converted to digital text. Margin notes in the notebook
tell the system whether to send the information back to the BlackBerry as
notes, email, contacts or tasks.
Enterprise
Edition
Besides its use as a
personal productivity enhancement for the BlackBerry, an Enterprise Edition
is also available to allow companies to tie the digital writing to specially
designed paper forms that convert handwritten information and check boxes to
digitally stored data that can connect to back end data systems using
Blackberry MDS Services and the PaperIQ server.
