Service Pack 2 for BES v3.6 and Desktop Manager v3.6 is due any
day now and will extend full compatibility with Exchange 2003 and
Outlook 2003. In the mean time if you have deployed Outlook 2003 you
can take advantage of SP 1 for the BlackBerry Destop Manager which
will allow basic interoperability with Outlook 2003.
Here is a brief
list of the enhancements included in SP1 for BB Dtop Manager:
 |
Updated Pumatech
Intellisync software that adds support for: Lotus Notes 6.0, ACT!
6.0, and Outlook Express 5.0/6.0 |
 |
Updated
"Integration Options" installation screen to better avoid
technical support questions upon installation |
 |
Numerous Lotus
Notes "Wireless Bulk Load" fixes |
 |
Improvements to
support Offline Email Reconciliation with Domino 2.2 BES,
specifically: (1) Offline Read/Unread reconciliation if user is
enabled for OTAFM; and (2) full Offline email reconciliation
supported if the user is disabled for OTAFM |
 |
Provides some
basic support for Outlook 2003 (so the Desktop Manager does not
crash), however full Outlook 2003 support is not planned until

eAccess eStore Real Time Tracking
We are proud to announce that our popular on-line
eStore has been upgraded
to support real time order tracking from fulfillment to the final
delivery of the product. This feature generates an automated link
with every order that the customer can click to get the most current
status on where their order is.
This new feature is just part of our commitment to you to better
streamline and equip you with the information you need. Our other
projects of late have led to decreased contract turn-around times on
wireless device orders and greatly increased our capacity to deliver
mass volume rollouts.

"Geek" Tips for Java BlackBerrys
Here are a few little known shortcuts that may help make
your user experience more interesting:
-
Rather than looking at the bars, you can change the display of the
signal strength meter to read in real numbers. While at the home
screen, hold down the orange ALT key while you type NMLL. The bar
should change to read numbers. If you are in the 100 area (that
means -100 dBm), you will be transmitting at maximum power (2
Watts). Since coverage is hit and miss at this weak a signal, you
may end up transmitting many times before the packets make it
through. This might help explain any poorer than normal battery
life. We consider anything at -90 to -50 excellent. To get the
bars back: While at the home screen, hold down the orange ALT key
while you type NMLL again.
-
Hold
down the orange ALT key -AND- the CAP key at the same time, then
the letter 'h'. This brings up the "Help Me!" screen that lists
version, app version, pin, imei, uptime, signal strength, battery
level, file free, and file total.
-
Hold
down the orange ALT while you type LGLG. This brings up the event
log where you can clear events (frees some memory) or view them or
copy the contents to mail to someone.
-
ALT-CAP-Backspace will reboot your BB.
