New BlackBerry Tips and Tricks
Delivery Confirmation
You can receive a delivery confirmation when you send a
message to a BlackBerry device from either your device or Outlook.
When composing the message on the device or in Outlook, type <
confirm > followed by the subject in the subject line of the
message. After sending the message, you receive a message
confirming delivery to the device.
Optimizing Battery Usage
If you find yourself charging your battery a bit too much then
you may want to consider using some techniques to save on your
battery. Consider doing the following:
- Use the Auto On/Off feature which is designed to program the
device to automatically power off and power on at certain times.
To setup the Auto On/Off go to Options application, select Auto
On/Off and configure the time the device will turn off and on.
- When wireless coverage is not needed, “Turn Wireless Off” to
avoid unnecessary attempts by the radio to find coverage.
- For Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry devices, “Turn Bluetooth Off”,
if it is not in use.
- BlackBerry devices should be kept in their holsters when not in
use because this will turn off the LCD screen.

Blackberry Internet E-mail (BIE) Supports
More Formats
On October 2, T-Mobile was the
first carrier to update the BlackBerry Web Client (BWC) to the
newly branded Blackberry Internet E-mail (BIE) service. Here is a
summary of the changes and upgrades that BIE now provides.
What is
Blackberry Internet E-mail?
BIE allows access to Internet-based
e-mail accounts like AOL Mail and POP accounts like Earthlink from
a T-Mobile Blackberry. The set up is done directly from the
Blackberry device or from MyT-Mobile.com. These changes were made
to provide customer's with a better e-mail experience.
New Features
- No storage limit. Messages older
than 30 days are automatically deleted from the server.
- The Blackberry device syncs
directly with the e-mail account. Sent, received, or deleted
e-mails will reflect on the e-mail account.
- Users only need to enter their MyT-Mobile username and password
to gain access to their BIE.
What e-mail accounts can users integrate with the Blackberry
Internet E-mail?
- Yahoo, AOL, POP3 (Earthlink,
Juno, Mindspring, Ameritech, Comcast, etc), IMAP, Outlook Web
Access, and Exchange / Domino server.
- Currently, Hotmail and MSN accounts are not supported by
Blackberry Internet E-mail.
If you have any
questions on the new BIE service,
